Respawn Mechanics

Work In Progress

  • This is a new page and under review. Important information may change or be revised.
  • Contains spoilers for the later Abysses.
  • Ctrl + F5 to refresh the page for new updates.

Overview

Basics

  • Each Abyss has a small number of map chests and Guild request rewards that can respawn. The game uses a hidden cooldown timer and when it reaches zero ("cd = 0") the item will respawn and can be collected again.
  • The cooldown timer starts when a map chest is opened or a Guild request is submitted. The game does not use a universal cooldown timer that resets items on the first of the month or week.

Respawn Intervals

  • Most items respawn monthly [30 days] and have a chance to appear starting at Day 21 with an increasing % chance on each subsequent day up to Day 30 (100%).
  • Weekly items generally respawn after [7 Days], but in some rare cases can take up to 9 days.
  • We recommend picking a day each month to collect your targeted items. The alternative is to check on a daily basis after Day 21, but it can become time-intensive.

Forced Respawning

Read Me

  • The game does not consistently respawn items on its own after the cd = 0. To make them appear you need to do a "forced respawn".
  • The "Fresh Start" CW node serves as a univeral reset button. It can respawn respawn map chests, fix broken flags, or resolve minor bugs.
  • Be forewarned that if you CW outside of your current Abyss, then all of your maps will be reset and may re-roll a different floor variation.

If items are not respawning it is likely due to one of the following:

  • The cooldown timer has not yet reached zero ("0"). If you are not using the Respawn Tracker tool or recording the dates in time in Excel, Notepad, etc. then it is likely you may be overestimating the amount of time that has passed since you last opened the chest. Wait a few more days and try again.
  • The steps need to be completed exactly as written.
  • A recent maintenance update has reset the cooldown timers or disabled them.
  • Your game is bugged and you may want to consider sending an Inquiry to Drecom so it can be investigated. This would be in an extreme situation where no items have respawned after 30 to 60 days.
  • Respawning items in A2 has been a long-running problem in the community and it is due to how the event flags are programmed.
  • Items will only appear on a timeline where Melgina is the GWO. The event flags used to turn "on" Octoranus likely disable or break the cd timers.
  • A2 has its own sub-section as it requires additional steps.

Respawning Guides

Map Chests
  • Go to the Ruins and select the CW.
  • Using the arrows at the top of the screen toggle left to A1 (The Beginning Abyss).
  • Select "Fresh Start" and then "Leap".
  • Fastest dialogue options are "No problem" and "Do nothing".
  • Return to the Ruins and Leap to your furthest node.
  • Go to the appropriate Abyss and collect your items.
  • The steps work for A1 and A3-4.
  • A1, Floor 7 Platforms
    • CW twice on "King's Arrival" or the final node of your most recently cleared Abyss.
    • You can also Harken to Floor 8 and reverse the two closest stones.
  • Catacombs
    • The Catacombs is bugged.
    • The monthly bone chest will not appear on your mini-map. You have to traverse the entire floor, do the candle puzzle, and check to see if it respawned.
Map Chests - A2 Only
  • Go to the Ruins and select the CW.
  • Use the arrows at the top of the screen to toggle left or right to A2 (Port Town Grand Legion).
  • Scroll down to "Return to the Capital" and toggle "Melgina Defeated".
  • Do NOT "Leap" yet.
  • Scroll back to the top of the screen and toggle left to A1 (The Beginning Abyss).
  • Select "Fresh Start" and "Leap".
  • Fastest dialogue options are "No problem" and "Do nothing".
  • Return to the Ruins and toggle back to the A2 timeline.
  • Scroll down to "Rickert's Shop" and "Leap".
  • If you want the Mana Elixir x3 that is located in the Treasure Room via the deck hatch you will need to select "Arena 5".
  • Use the nearby Harken and go to your desired floor.
  • Bounties
    • If you are above Bounty Rank 8 you will need to toggle "Octoranus Defeated" or the higher rank bounties may not appear.
  • Pier (District 7) Bone
    • If the listed steps do not work, then there is an alternative method.
    • Follow all of the steps listed previously, but instead of "Leaping" to "Rickert's Shop" instead select "One-Eyed Sahuagin", traverse all of District 6, reach the Pier, and see if the chest respawned.
    • Wheeling to a point before you encounter the map chest tends to "unstick" stubborn flags.
  • Last Resort Solution
    • If nothing you are doing is working, then you can CW to A1 and "Leap" to "Awakening".
    • You will have to go through the entire tutorial area again, which can take 10 to 15 minutes.
Important Requests
  • These steps are for the Important Request faction rewards for defeating a GWO.
  • Go to the Ruins and select the CW.
  • Use the arrows at the top of the screen to toggle left or right to your desired Abyss.
  • Go to the second node and toggle ("Client") your desired faction.
  • Do NOT Leap at this point.
  • Scroll down to the second-to-last node.
    • A2 - Arena Round 5
    • A3 - Fortress 3rd Floor Arrival
    • A4 - Truth of the Beautiful Ore
  • "Leap" to this node.
  • Go through the required steps to reach and defeat the GWO, which may require some Abyss traversal.
  • The ending sequence cannot be skipped or speed up.
  • A2 you will receive the Important Request reward killing Melgina or Octoranus.
  • A3 and A4 both have "Bad" endings where the MC dies, the Important Request fails, and you do not receive the reward.
    • Specific toggles must be set to ensure you get at least the "Good" ending to fulfill the request.
    • The "Good" endings are faster than the "True" endings since the GWO is easier to defeat.
  • Coming soon.
  • Requirement: Overall Abyss corrosion level of 8 for the Blackmail Ending (GWO 8).
  • Corrosion Sentry Toggles
    • If you registered all 13 Corrosion Sentries in the CW, then toggle 8 of them to "Spotted" before "Leaping".
    • Any Corrosion Sentries not registered in the CW are automatically counted as "Spotted."
  • Requirement: Clearing GWO 4-2
  • Short Rest in the Cabin
    • North Lakeshore Cabin - Fixed it up
    • Dwarves' Cave - Does not matter
    • Village Adults - Did not encounter them
  • Being That Dwells in the House of God
    • Iris's Eyes - Eyesight was not restored

Other

Cooldown Formula
  • We do not know the exact cd formula that Drecom uses. However, we do have 10 months of data that allows us to make some approximations.
  • Minimum Number of Days
    • Items can respawn as early as 21 Days. No item in the dataset has ever spawned before that point.
    • 21 Days functions as a fixed value in the formula.
  • "Yes or No" Respawn Roll
    • After the minimum number of days (21) condition has been met the game will make a binary roll - "Yes" or "No" - that determines whether the item will respawn or not.
    • The data suggests that the "Yes" % chance starts at a low value on Day 21 and increases after each roll until it reaches 100% on Day 30.
    • The time interval between each "Yes or No" roll is likely 12 to 24 hours.
  • Game Maintenance
    • It is not uncommon for chests to respawn immediately after a maintenance update. This has become less frequent over time.
    • We suspect that it is because the maintenance updates forces all (or some) cooldown timers to zero ("0") in order for the new code, bug fixes, etc. to work properly.
Fixed Cooldown Items
  • A1, Floor 8: Nourishing Draught x3 - Every 24 hours. A great resource for new players to build a stock early on for challenging floors and bosses.
  • Bone Picker Bone and Tallow: Every 7 days. It operates on a similar cd timer as the Ancient Mausoleum Tallow whose cd timer is visible.
  • Enemy Chest Bone: Every 7 days. The drop will overwrite whatever was previously going to be in the chest, including relics and unique gear.
